Simple Step By Step Guide
Step 1 - Launch Assembly (15 mins)
The goal of this assembly is to introduce National Nature Day to the children. It's best to make this interactive and engaging for the children. Please download tool kit for format ideas.
Hand out the pots and seeds.
Take a photo of all the kids holding their pots and seeds for your school newsletter.
Step 2 - Children take seeds and pots home to plant
The children take home their materials, add soil and water.
Keep at home until end of term.
Step 3 - Take progress photos
Get the children to take progress photos for class (once per week).
Step 4 - Bring back plants / Wrap up assembly
At the end of term get the children to bring their plants back in to school.
Ideally bring them into a 'wrap up' assembly to show results to school.
Highlight some of the biggest plants.
Ask the children what they learned, and how they felt about looking after their pet plant.
